Was Mercy Aigbe truly disgraced by hubby?

For days now, several online blogs have been agog with the allegation that Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe was disgraced out of an event by her hubby, Lanre Gentry for allegedly disappearing from an event venue on Sunday.

The brouhaha started at the popular Troy Lounge in Ogba, Lagos where the actress was being honoured. Ooduwa Television, a channel on cable network, Startimes was celebrating the Yoruba actress for her contributions to the movie world. There was a time during the end of the event when the DJ asked for the presence of the Mercy and she was nowhere to be found. But there was no major incident after that. It was after the event that some blogs started giving ‘insights’ to what happened behind the scene.

The story is that Mercy left her husband and his friends at the table for hours without coming back. The husband after a while got angry and went to the DJ to announce that Mercy’s attention was needed. Later mercy was said to have appeared, but this time wearing another cloth, a night gown. The husband was said to be very angry that he dragged her into the car and drove off angrily. The other seeming proof was that Mercy’s car was left parking in front of the club even till the next day.

According to one of her friends, the report was not the case. “Mercy was neither disgraced by her husband nor seen in a night gown in any room. It’s all lies, Mercy came with her friends and she was provided with a room by the organisers to change and freshen up, which was the norm for every artiste that had been hosted. Mercy and her crew left in her husband jeep because her car developed fault,” the friend said.

Another of mercy’s friends also supported the story by explaining that Mercy had attended Iyabo Ojo’s Pinkies Foundation earlier in the day before returning to Troy Lounge, and that had left her tired, and that is why she was given a room to relax. “It would be demeaning to react to this kind of story because it’s baseless. At least Sola Fajobi, Soji Omotayo, Yinka Quadri and other notable people were at the event and the said room was given to her like they give other artistes to rest and freshen up. And we all left together in her husband’s jeep and slept in their hotel, La Veronique. And she is currently enjoying the company of her hubby with no issues, so maybe it’s in their dreams that they all concocted the story,” the source said.

Mercy has refused to pick her Glo number since the story broke and her husband has been difficult to reach. Mercy’s car has since been driven away from the front of Troy lounge.
